Topic: The disaster of yesterday
Sigh. So bad thing number one started with Penny Arcade and Think Geek yesterday. At about 11 I realised "oh crap, the PA-CTS cell is being released soon". I then had to figure out when 9am PST was.

As it happens, 9am PST is 2pm out time.

So I'm doing stuff with the ThinkGeek site the hour before that, making sure my account is all good.

By 2:07, I couldn't get to their website. It was being completely hammered. This went on for the next hour or so. I got everything from "cannot connect to server" to "can't connect to database"... quite clearly their website was completely cactus. But I didn't give up, I kept trying. Finally, at about 3:00, I managed to get through. After a few attempts to view my cart, I was able to actually proceed to the next bit. By that time it was starting to appear working normal, so Aran and myself decided to add a heap of plush microbes to the order, to save on shipping.

3:28, the order finally gets placed. 7 Plush microbes, and a CTS cell. Confirm, yes. yes, yes. continue. Danmit, just order already.

But then I get the confirmation email back.
"WHAT THE FUCK!?".

7 Plush microbes, but no CTS cell. There's angry, and then there's disgusted. I was beyond annoyed.

It gets worse though.
On the invoice they emailed me, the total came to USD142.63 including USD27.00 shipping. Not only have they charged me for an item that doesn't appear on the invoice, they've also charged me shipping on the item!

Off I go to the National Internet Banking website. Sure enough, they've charged my credit card already, AUD188 odd. I was not impressed.

So, an email gets returned to them, which I thought was reasonably polite considering all things. I was particularly annoyed that now I'm being charged for 7 plush microbes that I was only really buying out of convenience because I was buying another item at the time.

They claim that I can only cancel an order at a certain point, hence the immediate reply. I was expecting a followup before it moved from this status. I even gave them my phone number - in case they wanted to handle it that way.
Thismorning comes when I get into the office, and still no email. So at this point, I'm far from impressed. And it's now out of the "new" stage. You can bet I won't be paying for them if it's shipped without the complete order as I made it, in by that I mean I'll be onto my bank if they try to blame me, since they haven't responded.

If they sort it out, great, I'll have all kinds of praise for them, and I might even go back and buy that laserpod next month. But so far I'm thoroughly unimpressed. Seriously. If an item is limited and you know it's going to sell fast, and clearly that was always going to happen, you put holds on the items when they're added to carts. Gr.

Anyway. I now eagerly await a repsonse from ThinkGeek.
