Topic: Playing catch-up

Lately, I haven't had a lot of time for frequent updates. The Energy Breakthrough has been taking up a lot of my time, both in preparation adn the actual event, however now that it's over for the year, things can continue to move forward.

Unfortunately the event didn't exactly go to plan, so over the next few months we're going to have to do a lot more work to ensure that in 2007 the same problems don't crop up. More development is going to be needed, and more equipment to make things better and more reliable.

At work things are still hectic - we're hoping to have a new set of servers up and running by next week in a colocation facility. That might be a bit optimistic perhaps, but we'll be doing the best possible.

We're also still trying to squeeze all the performance possible out of our code at work, so we can get as many renders out as possible for the new servers. This means I have a nice week or so ahead of just profiling code and chopping out whatever is unnecessary, optimising what's possible. We've already got the performance up a fair bit this week - I'm thinking we can get maybe 20% more - we'll see how it goes :)
